Contract Type: Contract to Hire

Pay: $31.00–$35.00/hour (DOE)

Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled Commercial Building Engineer to join our team in Overland Park. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in commercial office maintenance, including expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems. You will play a key role in ensuring the operational integrity of building systems and providing excellent service to tenants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Building System Maintenance:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems (e.g., pumps, chillers, boilers, air handling units).
  • Adjust HVAC systems and related equipment to maintain optimal performance.
  • Handle general building maintenance including fixtures, lighting, and appliances.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions across multiple systems and equipment types.
  • Respond promptly to work orders and address tenant/client needs efficiently.
• System Monitoring & Documentation:
  • Monitor and document system operations, including chemical treatment programs and log entries.
  • Maintain accurate records for all maintenance and repairs performed.
• Task Coordination:
  • Assist with scheduling and delegating tasks while minimizing disruption to tenants.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and management to resolve complex building issues.
• Training & Compliance:
  • Complete all required training and certifications within the designated timeframes.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in commercial office building maintenance.
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with various systems and equipment types.
• Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and manuals.
  • Must be safety-conscious and reliable.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
• Other Requirements:
  • Comfort with building automation systems and related technology upgrades is required.
