Position Details

Job Title: Building Engineer

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Schedule may vary based on property needs. Overtime may be required as needed.

Pay Range: $25.00–$34.00/hour

Position Overview

The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring building systems and ensuring the property operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position will complete work orders, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot building systems, and respond to emergency situations as needed.

The Building Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering to support daily building operations, maintenance procedures, environmental standards, and fire and life safety requirements while helping meet the property owner’s goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on building systems, equipment, industrial systems, and grounds.
• Inspect and monitor building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire alarms, and related equipment, to ensure proper operation.
• Complete assigned work orders, emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of building systems, including:HVAC systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Kitchen equipment
  • Roofs and drainage systems
  • Building automation systems
• Assist with diagnosing and resolving building system issues in a timely manner.
• Provide direction and oversight to mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects when needed.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and coordinate additional assistance when necessary.
• Support energy management initiatives to ensure building systems operate efficiently and help minimize operating costs.
• Maintain building lighting systems, including replacing lamps, ballasts, and other components.
• Promote a safe working environment and support all applicable environmental, health, and fire/life safety requirements.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of building maintenance experience, preferably in a commercial property environment.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
• Knowledge of energy management systems, techniques, and best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve building system issues independently.
  • Appropriate trade licenses or certifications as required by the property or local jurisdiction, which may include:Journeyman or Master Electrician license
  • Refrigeration certification
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • High Pressure Boiler License
  • High Pressure Steam Operator License
  • Other applicable trade certifications
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to prioritize work, respond to emergencies, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
