Make Ready Technician / Porter

Location: Kansas City, KS 66112

Job Type: Full-Time | Temporary | Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Make Ready Technician / Porter to support the operations of a multifamily apartment community. This role is responsible for preparing vacant units for new residents, maintaining the property's appearance, and assisting with general maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of performing physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

Make Ready & Maintenance Duties

  • Prepare apartment homes for move-ins through cleaning, repairs, painting touch-ups, and inspections
  • Perform light electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs
  • Replace fixtures, hardware, blinds, locks, and other basic components as needed
  • Assist with appliance troubleshooting and minor repairs
  • Complete assigned work orders and maintenance tasks efficiently
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Ensure vacant units meet company standards for occupancy

Porter & Grounds Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of community grounds, breezeways, parking areas, and common spaces
  • Remove trash, debris, and bulk items from the property
  • Assist with landscaping, lawn care, and exterior property upkeep
  • Support power washing of walkways, breezeways, and exterior surfaces as needed
  • Help maintain the overall curb appeal of the community
  • Report safety concerns and property issues to management

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Make Ready Technician, Porter, Groundskeeper, or Apartment Maintenance Technician
  • Experience with carpentry, hardware installation, and basic maintenance repairs
  • Knowledge of appliance troubleshooting preferred
  • Must provide and maintain own tools
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and supplies
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more as needed
