Maintenance Technician - Contract to Hire

Location: Portland, OR 97236

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance operations of three residential properties in the Portland area. This position requires daily travel between assigned properties to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and unit turns while ensuring exceptional service for residents and property management teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance professional looking for a stable Monday-Friday schedule and the potential for permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel between three assigned properties to complete maintenance work orders and inspections.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including:
  • Plumbing repairs and troubleshooting
  • Electrical repairs and fixture replacement
  • HVAC maintenance and basic troubleshooting
  • Appliance repairs and installations
  • Drywall repair, painting, and carpentry
• Complete apartment turns and prepare vacant units for new residents.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on building systems and common areas.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work orders and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
• Assist with property inspections and identify potential maintenance concerns.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance experience in residential, multifamily, apartment, or commercial properties preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage assignments across multiple locations.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance tasks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC certification a plus.
• EPA Certification preferred but not required.
• Previous apartment maintenance experience highly desired.
