Senior Property Manager (Affordable Housing)

Location: Roxbury, MA

Salary: $110,000–$115,000 annually

Schedule: Full-Time

Work Environment: Central Office-Based with Oversight of Two Properties

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Property Manager to join our growing team in the Roxbury area. This is an exceptional opportunity for a property management professional who is passionate about affordable housing, operational excellence, and team leadership.

In this role, you will oversee the operations of two affordable housing communities totaling fewer than 200 units, while directly managing and mentoring three Property Managers. Based out of the central office, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring regulatory compliance, financial performance, resident satisfaction, and team success.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Property Oversight

  • Oversee the daily operations and performance of two affordable housing communities.
  • Ensure properties are maintained to the highest standards of safety, appearance, and resident satisfaction.
  • Monitor occupancy, leasing activity, resident retention, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and site teams to ensure timely resolution of property-related issues.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and audits.

Affordable Housing Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all affordable housing regulations and program requirements.
  • Oversee and review annual and interim recertifications.
  • Maintain compliance with LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, and other affordable housing programs as applicable.
  • Prepare for and manage agency audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
  • Train and support site teams on compliance procedures and best practices.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Directly supervise and mentor three Property Managers.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development support.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture across the portfolio.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding new team members as needed.

Financial Management

  • Partner with leadership to develop and manage property budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, occupancy, and collections.
  • Review monthly financial reports and implement strategies to achieve ownership goals.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of property management experience.
  • Previous experience managing affordable housing communities.
  • Extensive experience with affordable housing compliance and recertifications.
  • Experience supervising onsite staff and property management teams.
  • Strong understanding of property operations, budgeting, and resident relations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with property management software and Microsoft Office.

Preferred

  • Experience overseeing multiple properties.
  • LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, or other affordable housing program experience.
  • COS, HCCP, TCS, or related affordable housing certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, Property Management, or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits
