Commercial Building Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA 30303

Pay Rate: $23.00–$25.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM


Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial Building Engineer to join our facility operations team in Atlanta. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and efficiency of building systems through preventive maintenance, repairs, contractor coordination, and emergency response activities. Your expertise will help ensure a high-quality environment for occupants while supporting overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee assigned maintenance and repair work orders, ensuring timely and effective completion.
  • Inspect, operate, and maintain critical life safety systems, including generators, fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Conduct routine building maintenance and repairs involving HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and electrical components.
  • Perform HVAC preventive maintenance tasks such as coil cleaning, filter replacement, and belt changes.
  • Monitor and coordinate the work of vendors and contractors to ensure quality standards and project requirements are met.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and complete scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
  • Assist with moving equipment, machinery, furniture, and materials as needed to support facility operations.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, work orders, and material usage within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or general building repair.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience using CMMS or similar maintenance tracking systems.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders when necessary.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
