Controller – Multifamily

Location: Dallas or San Antonio preferred | Remote flexibility available

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 base salary + potential bonus

Schedule: Full-time | Flexible, trust-based work environment


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Controller with a multifamily real estate background to step into a true leadership position. This role is designed for a senior-level finance professional who can assess current financial operations, identify gaps, and implement solutions that support operational efficiency and portfolio growth.

This individual will partner closely with leadership and play a critical role in strengthening financial infrastructure while remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all financial operations, including:
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Collections and cash flow management
  • Payroll
  • Month-end close and accurate financial reporting
  • Evaluate existing accounting and financial processes, identify inefficiencies, and lead corrective initiatives
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to leadership on financial performance and decision-making
  • Manage and develop a small accounting team (currently overseeing two AR/AP professionals)
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency across all financial activities
  • Support financial scalability across a multifamily portfolio

Required Systems & Technical Experience

  • QuickBooks Online (required)
  • JobTread for invoicing (required)
  • Ramp for vendor payments (required)
  • Exposure to additional ERP or property management accounting systems is a plus

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Senior-level Controller experience within multifamily real estate or property management
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to assess what’s broken and implement improvements
  • Hands-on leader who can balance execution with leadership and process development
  • Experience managing and mentoring small accounting teams
  • Comfortable operating in a flexible, results-driven environment

Work Environment

  • Standard 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. schedule with flexibility to work earlier or later as needed
  • Trust-based culture focused on accountability and outcomes
  • Dallas or San Antonio preferred; remote flexibility available for the right candidate
