Area Manager – Multifamily Properties

Location: South Side of Chicago, IL

Position Type: Full-Time


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of multifamily communities on the South Side of Chicago. This position requires a strong property management professional who can coach and support on-site teams while driving financial and operational performance across multiple communities.

The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in reducing delinquency, improving collections, enhancing occupancy, and ensuring compliance. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you will make a direct impact on resident satisfaction and overall portfolio success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support property managers across multiple sites (1,000+ units).
  • Develop and execute strategies to maximize collections and reduce delinquency.
  • Monitor financial performance, budgets, and key operational metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations, company standards, and resident expectations.
  • Implement resident retention initiatives to stabilize and grow occupancy.
  • Drive accountability, professional development, and performance management across your team.
  • Serve as the primary regional contact for escalated operational or resident concerns.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of progressive multifamily property management experience, including regional oversight.
  • Demonstrated success managing workforce or affordable housing communities.
  • Proven track record of improving collections, reducing delinquency, and driving occupancy.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and retain high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with property management software (Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage, or similar).
