Position: Building Maintenance Engineer – Historic Commercial Buildings

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay: $30.00 an hour


We are seeking a Building Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in the care and operation of historic commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in older building systems, including boilers, vintage plumbing, and pneumatic HVAC systems, and will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and historic integrity of the property.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently complete maintenance tasks with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Maintain building safety and support uninterrupted operations.
  • Provide courteous and effective communication with tenants, resolving concerns such as hot/cold calls, general maintenance, and lighting.
  • Inspect buildings and systems for safety or performance issues.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on:
    • Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
    • Boilers, water pumps, pneumatic HVAC systems, centrifugal chillers
    • Air handling units, EMS, and cooling plants
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Support or manage equipment installations or upgrades.
  • Coordinate with and supervise third-party contractors when required.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and order parts as needed.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and logs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper condition of all work areas.
  • Follow all established safety and operational procedures.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience maintaining historic or older commercial buildings.
  • Hands-on knowledge of operating and maintaining:
    • Boilers, older plumbing, pneumatic controls
    • HVAC systems, including centrifugal chillers
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely from ladders.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance requirements.
