Position: Automation Architect

Location: On-site, Woodlawn, MD (5 days/week)

Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust


Overview:

We’re seeking an experienced Automation Architect to design and implement cutting-edge automation solutions, develop and maintain automation frameworks, and guide development teams in best practices. The role requires strong expertise in Java, Selenium, and BDD/TDD methodologies within Agile environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement automation frameworks and solutions using Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and Gherkin
  • Maintain and enhance automation infrastructure (framework, scripts, Selenium Grid)
  • Mentor team members and support onboarding into automation practices
  • Collaborate with integration teams to support test execution in shared environments
  • Execute automated test suites, report results, and document defects
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and potentially act as Scrum Master

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software/automation development
  • Deep understanding of BDD and TDD testing approaches
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in Java-based test automation using Selenium, JUnit/TestNG, and Maven
  • Experience with Selenium Grid, Jenkins CI/CD, and test automation for web services (Parasoft, REST Assured, SOAP UI)
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, or DB2
  • Solid grasp of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and associated tools
  • Hands-on experience with test script development and automated regression testing

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket/Stash, and Pull Request workflows
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker)
  • Prior experience in SSA’s development environment (Agility, Confluence, SonarQube, Checkmarx)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
