Job Description – Mainframe Storage Engineer

Seeking a seasoned Mainframe Storage Engineer to lead platform strategies, support daily operations, and ensure optimal performance of virtual tape systems. This role includes collaborating with application teams, implementing updates, documenting procedures, and troubleshooting platform issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive operational efficiency initiatives
• Act as technical lead on mainframe storage platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams
• Support and document system updates and configurations
• Provide system administration and issue resolution
• Maintain and report on task and project progress

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field
• 7+ years of experience with mainframe storage systems
• Deep knowledge of virtual tape architectures (Dell/EMC, VSM, VLE, ZFS)
• Proficiency in IBM JCL, CA-1 TMS, CA Vantage, and Disaster Recovery
• Experience with SMS design, TSO, ISPF, and DDMC
• Familiarity with Linux CLI and automation (e.g., Ansible)
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills

Preferred:

• Experience with Cyber Recovery and workload migrations
• Prior federal or government project experience
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple priorities
