Controller – Direct Hire | Dallas, TX (Hybrid)

Location: Downtown Dallas

Schedule: 4 days onsite / 1 day remote

A mission-driven, high-impact organization in the Dallas region is seeking a Controller to join their finance team. This is a highly visible role that supports both internal operations and broader community engagement. The Controller will report directly to the VP of Finance and play a key role in system administration, financial reporting, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations, including revenue recognition, general ledger, payroll, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Act as financial systems administrator for Sage 500 and contribute to the upcoming Intacct implementation.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and assist with annual audits and tax filings (990s, property tax, etc.).
• Review and manage balance sheets, reconciliations, and cash/investment reporting.
• Contribute to strategic financial planning and lead various improvement initiatives.
• Support grant and contribution accounting where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• CPA required (strong candidates without a CPA may be considered).
• 5+ years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
• Proficiency with Sage (or comparable ERP like NetSuite); Intacct experience is a plus.
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
• Knowledge of 606 revenue recognition and grant accounting a plus.
• Nonprofit experience helpful but not required.
